An insulated chamber or cryostat, that house electromagnetic coils and contains liquid helium which is used to maintain the coil temperature below -264*C or -443*F. This liquid helium is then surrounded by another dewar or cryostat, containing liquid nitrogen which serves to maintain the temperature needed for the helium to remain a liquid.
