Any Phelbotomists Out There?

I am interested in becoming a phlebotomist to help me jump into something else in the health field. I am currently taking my pre-reqs for a certified course that starts in January through an accredited community college. They require at least 80 hrs of clinicals as well as the course work. I am getting into this to fast track and get my feet wet (Plus I can’t afford nursing school right now) in the health field and then plan on getting into radiology/sonography or even labratory. Do you think is I should use my Phlebotomy training to jump into something else like I plan to do? (I am also a mom raising a child and looking to go back to work part time while going to school) Also….any pros and cons about Phlebotomy in general out there?

Sure thing. You an also try looking into hospitals taking non experienced peoplee to work as phleb. As for making this a step to other field, your best bet would beclinicall lab or medical technology. Depending on where you are, look into medical technology or clinical lab science as major. Pros……it is a definite employment, very stable, patient exposure ( you are planning to go to nursing school), cons…. just the pay… but it is not as bad as others… beside if you can get yourself into the hospitals, benefit is good….
