I’m getting a nose job in hospital, need some useful words?

My psychiatrist determined that my nose was causing me too much distress so she contacted my local GP doctor and he reffered to to the hospital. I had a quick meeting with a surgeon at the hospital, he was very friendly and asked me to sign papers to have my photos done and then arranged a CAT scan.
I am having both physical and mental issues about my nose.
Physical include:
Ears crack/sound like popping often especially when I swallow
I find it annoying and a hassle to breathe through my nose
My nose feels clogged/snotty often.
I have asthma and my health matters to me

Mental because:
It distracts me from life often and I think about it too much.
The only thing I dislike about myself
It looks too big for my face ( has a hump/slightly crooked )
I feel like I would benefit more from having a nicer nose

The surgeon said that another man would sort out an operation after a CAT scan.
Even though it went so well I’m scared they will find a reason to not let me have this done even though the guy seemed fine with what I said.

I know I’m very lucky about this btw lol.

There is a way to resist pain if you go into a certain mental state apparently.

Stick to the difficulty of breathing, ear problems, all physical difficulties. If you talk about shape, they will think it cosmetic so elective and require you pay. Insurance is more apt to pay if it improves physical performance.

I don’t think they will change their minds about this. You have medical reasons as well as psychological issues with your nose. My 20 yr old daughter has had cosmetic surgery on the NHS (not a nose job though) She was really worried that even though the doctor said yes at her initial consultation they would change their mind. She had to wait about six months for the funding to be approved but the op eventually went ahead, she is very happy with the results. She also knows she was very lucky but I feel she really needed this op. I hope it goes well for you.

Can I just add that the only thing this op will change is your nose. If your problems are deeper than that then you can’t expect to wake up after it with all your problems solved.
